"Cotton and Peach Growing"
1941
Mural, Oil on Canvas
Winfield Walkley , painter
Program: Treasury Section of Fine Arts
Location: Lobby
When the post office moved in 1968, the building was renovated for use as Greer City Hall. The mural was covered over with paneling--wall studs were literally nailed to the mural. In 2008, City Hall moved out and another round of renovations uncovered the mural for the first time in 40 years.
No restoration. Nail holes are still visible in the mural. The lower right corner has a small amount of painted canvas removed, likely during renovations to the building in the past.
